The Museum of Illusions is a European-based company known globally for its mind-bending “edutainment” experiences. In early 2021, the museum made its Florida debut in Orlando and our team had the opportunity to organize its official grand opening.
On top of planning an opening in the middle of COVID-19, we had to get the museum’s name off the ground in a new county. We started with establishing the museum’s online presence, first creating Instagram and Facebook accounts, then digitally optimizing the museum site with SEO and running PPC search ads. Our creative and digital team used the video and photo content captured as promotional assets across the newly created social platforms. Next, we planned and executed photo and video shoots at the museum’s ICON Park location.
To build more buzz around the grand opening event, we coordinated media tours and earned media coverage in print, TV and online outlets. With pandemic safety measures in place, including timed entries, mandatory face masks and ongoing cleaning, the various news stories highlighted how each mind-boggling exhibit offered photo opportunities guests wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else.
Despite COVID-19’s impact on the tourism industry, our pre-opening efforts for this attraction were a success. On opening day, lines were out the door, and throughout opening week, tickets consistently sold out.
